1976 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley

Wine Description

Toffee, dried cherry, dried herbs, fennel, tobacco and cedar aroma remain. Mouthwatering acidity and silky smooth texture volatilize quickly. We would call this wine intriguing, but like an aging athlete, it’s a bit slow out of the blocks.

Winemaker's Notes

For over 20 years, the 1976 vintage (our first) demonstrated a rare combination of drinkability and longevity. This wine still holds merit, but the memory of its greatness is more alive than the wine itself. Toffee, dried cherry, dried herbs, fennel, tobacco and cedar aroma remain. Mouthwatering acidity and silky smooth texture volatilize quickly. We would call this wine intriguing, but like an aging athlete, it’s a bit slow out of the blocks.

(From 2000 Vintage) The fleeting hints of citrus and green apples in this one come and go all too quickly, and, in the absence of any semblance of varietal fruitiness and identifiable richness, the wine turns thin and slightly coarse as it crosses the palate and empties out into a forgettable finish.
