Wine Description

(From 2011 Vintage) Ripe grapes were destemmed and inoculated with various strains of yeast to maximize complexity. Gentle pumpovers during fermentation were used to extract color and flavor and produce soft, supple tannins. Aged 14 months in American and French oak, 32% new

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2012 Vintage) Our goal with the Columbia Valley Cabernet is to highlight concentrated Washington red fruit in an accessible style. This is our inviting Cab with plenty of complexity and structure with silky tannins. It’s also very versatile with food–try it with beef, pork or pasta.

(From 2002 Vintage) The family formula is also evident in this bottling, and, while the obvious tannins are held in check until the very end, the all-too-quiet fruit is similarly played as an extra in the cast and makes but a brief appearance. The wine would serve in a pinch, but there are better choices elsewhere.

(From 2000 Vintage) 14% Cabernet Franc; 1% Syrah. Tasting all too much like the inexpensive wine that it is, Chateau Ste. Michelle's basic bottling is on the skimpy side with respect to fruit and comes up thin, blunt and a little too dry in the mouth.
