1975 Chateau Petrus Pomerol

Wine Description

(From 2009 Vintage) This offers a beautiful balance between its two sides: dark fig, roasted plum and toast flavors versus racy raspberry, cassis and perfumy black tea notes. Silky overall, but with terrific latent grip and a mouthwatering minerality that drives through the finish, pulling out extra fruit paste and charred spice hints.

(From 1998 Vintage) "The 1998 Petrus is unquestionably a fabulous effort boasting a dense plum/purple color as well as an extraordinary nose of black fruits intermixed with caramel, mocha, and vanilla. The finish lasts for 40-45 seconds. Patience will definitely be required. Production...

(From 1985 Vintage) Rating: 0/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Very deep red; sweet oaky nose, immensely stylish, discreet; very rich and concentrated, dense, powerful, tight, lacks a little zip but very impressive, chocolatey; very good length.

One of the best bottles I have ever had.--Bordeaux retrospective. Drink now." "Given what I thought this wine would achieve, the 1982 Petrus has not turned out to be nearly as profound as expected. It reveals a certain herbaceousness, and there is significantly less concentration than I initially believed (too much filtration?) along with a cedary spiciness. Tasters who have had n...
