(From 1982 Vintage) This has always been one of the wines of the vintage. Harmonious and beautifully structured. Brilliant ruby color, with a hint of garnet. A bounty of cherry, tobacco and cedar aromas and flavors. Full-bodied and tannic, with velvety texture and medium finish.
(From 1982 Vintage) The dense ruby/purple-hued, fresh, vivacious Mouton-Rothschild offers hints of new saddle leather, truffles, cassis, and pain grille, zesty acidity, a touch of austerity, and a medium-bodied, streamlined, restrained personality. This rich, pure claret will require patience as it needs a decade of cellaring to shed its lofty tannins.
Wine & Spirits(From 1982 Vintage) On the surface, Mouton is often less complicated than the other firsts. Its glamorous oak scent and flashy cassis concentration are easily matched by several ambitious second-growth Pauillacs. The greatness of Mouton lies deeper, and it shows most prominently in a Cabernet vintage like rsquo;96. The vines stand in a deep sea of small stones, a gravel plateau as difficult to walk upon as a sand dune. Cabernet loves these stones and grows grapes that come about as close to the essential flavor of the variety as seems possible. Mouton is a pure, perfectly articulates Cabernet as a Shaker chair is a pure, essential and perfect chair.

Decanter(From 1966 Vintage) Rating: 0/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Deep red; sweetish dense nose, not very expressive but very Cabernet in its aromas; austere, firm, still tannic, plenty of fruit, still backward but will it come round?; quite good length.
