Tasted by alexmb1 on 2/28/2011 & rated 99 points: We drank this bottle in Rome at one of my favorite restaurants (to remain unnamed to preserve its integrity).Having passed on the bottle the previous year, I decided I could not pass up the last bottle in stock. This was was, quite frankly, one of the finest bottles of wine I have ever tastes. The bottle was perfectly preserved and cellared. We decanted for 1 hour before consumption since we ordered at the table. The bouquet was marvelous! Lots of intense cherry aromas as you would expect with Amarone. Notes of chocolate covered cherries came with a rich, silky texture that coated the palate. Long finish with smooth and integrated tannins. The hue was a deep red, with orange tones that you would see in an aged Bordeaux. The wine performed marvelously even with such age. I would say that this is a wine that will last to see its 50th birthday, but why wait. This wine should be enjoyed now for your next special dinner. (879 views)
