Made in a nonmalolactic style, with the initial fermentation in small oak barrels, this cuvee ages three years on the lees. It relies on the 2000 vintage, with 12 percent reserve wines from 1999. Lovely combination of flavor and harmony. Loads of mineral- and spice-tinged fruit highlight this creamy, concentrated brut. It's dry, with tangy acidity and a lingering finish. 45 percent Pinot Noir, 42 percent Chardonnay and 13 percent Pinot Meunier.
  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
45% Pinot Noir; 42% Chardonnay; 13% Pinot Meunier. Close in richness and depth if a bit younger in cast, this wine boasts a solid, creamy mousse and nicely toasty, yeasty notes backed up by crisp acids and a lasting aftertaste. We also tasted this wine from magnum and are happy to suggest it to you for special occasions for its added richness and roundness.

Yellow-gold with a slow bead. Musky pear and peach skin aromas are complemented by notes of lemon rind and yellow rose. Rich and broad on entry, then tightens up in the middle palate and offers lively citrus and orchard fruit flavors. Manages to be both fleshy and lively but the finish is a bit abrupt.
