2010 Napa Valley Viognier Our 2010 Viognier hails from a superb vineyard in the sandy loam soils of western Suisun Valley. We stumbled onto these ancient vines that were tucked up a dirt road and planted at the base of the foothill range while migrating our famous Babydoll Sheep to their summertime pasture last spring. When it was time to pick, we were aiming for that same magic that you loved in our 2009 Viognier- drenched tropical notes of guava and passion fruit. After the early morning pick, we gently whole-cluster pressed the fruit, then split the juice into French oak barrels (10%) and a real American stainless steel tank. Following the cool fermentation that helped to preserve the delicate texture and minerality, we stirred the lees weekly to whip up that creamy mouthfeel.
