WINEMAKER'S NOTE
The grapes were destemmed, but not crushed, and lightly pressed in order to avoid over extraction of bitter tannins from the skins. The must was then fermented in upright stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures for 30 days. The wine was filtered prior to bottling.

MickThis is a delicious Sauvignon Blanc. Great citrus and floral notes in the bouquet. In contrast with other SB's, not as crisp and acidic on the palate, which I like. Balanced and a winner in my book, esp at this price point. Has some of the typical NZ character of grapefruit but more muted with some vegetable oil in the background. Pretty nice. Clear and on the green side in color the New Zealand style citrus smells come through after a swirl round the glass. When still, the grassy and green apple tones come out. Almost puckeringly acidic in the mouth it quickly tones down so the citrus and herbage come out and eventually ends up on the pleasantly balanced side of the score card. Some wet stone mineral flavors hang around during the short but pleasant finish. A very good wine that I would have no problem buying again. perfumey nose and the taste has a rush of honeydew melon with lime and grapefruit soon to follow. a bit sweet and only a hint of acidity, it would be a great summer drink by the pool.
