When Robert Craig first came to Napa Valley in the late 1970’s, he headed to Mt. Veeder in the southwestern Mayacamas range. There he spent the next 12 years learning about mountain vineyards and came to regard Mt. Veeder one of the premiere Appellations for world-class Cabernet Sauvignons. His first Mt. Veeder Cabernet was made in 1993. Fifteen vintages later, the 2008 offering is a classic mountain Cabernet, brimming with deep black fruit and balanced by round, supple tannins and bright acidity that offer the structure for long-term aging.

The Robert Craig Wine Cellars proprietary label, Affinity, is their Bordeaux-style Cabernet Sauvignon blend, which features Cabernet grapes from the winery's estate vineyard located in the eastern foothills of Napa Valley, within the Combsville area. The cooler growing conditions and well-drained soils of this vineyard produce a wonderfully distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon which is the perfect counterpoint to grapes from Rutherford, Oakville and Carneros which are used in the blend. From Robert Parker: "Robert Craig's 2008 Affinity, which is a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, and the rest Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec, has a dark plum/ruby color, a very evolved and forward nose of spice box, cedar, black plums, and sweet cherries. the bottle we drank had leakage on the top of the cork. Need to talk to dan and see how his bottle was. The bottle was very good, I think it does need to be decanted. As the flavors changed quite a bit as the bottle was open
