During fermentation and maceration, component lots received an average of 22 days of skin contact prior to 17 months of barrel aging in new French oak. Unfined and bottled one year prior to release, the 2008 Opus One is composed of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 4% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Malbec.

Initial aromas of rose petals and spring flowers in the 2008 Opus One give way to cassis, cola and black cherry, with notes of marzipan and sandalwood. A satin texture enrobes the wine’s smooth, round tannins, its bright acidity supporting a juicy and elegant mouthfeel.

FANTASTIC smokiness, plum, dark cherry and chocolate. LONG LONG FINISH

Pretty good, maybe a bit over rated. I like Coppola Claret as much.
