sailchessiWine Spectator: 83 points This is just a great bang for your buck! Smooth and rich, this has black raspberry and spice notes, leading to a long, cherry flavored finish. Trapiche is one of the leading and largest producers in Argentina, one of the reasons why they are able to make this at such a great price! Pours an enticing deep blood red, and shows surprising complexity on the nose right out of the bottle - the usual dark fruits of plum and cherry, musty tobacco, a little banana. Very full on the palate, showing loads of pomegranate, plum, blackberry, and a pleasant hint of oak. This resolves into a little bit of jamminess, though, on the back of the palate, and the finish is very tannic (almost burning), but softens after an hour or so of breathing. Altogether, a solid over-performer, and matched up very well against an American Malbec at three times the price Fruity, but thin. Not a full bodied Malbec, nice color and very easy drinking medium purple; nose: oak and vanilla; taste: full rounded plum mouth feel, medium-length rounded peppery finish with soft tannins; overall: very good, fruity, coherent, easy-drinking package that delivers pleasure at a value price, yummy by itself or with beef Wine Review: This very dark purple colored Malbec is a pleasant everyday option. It opens with a mild oak and faint blackberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and easy going. The flavor profile is a gentle oak and plum combination with a hint of black cherry. The finish is dry and its dusty tannins are sticky and linger for a while. This very affordable Malbec is a perfect burger wine. Winemaker Notes: Intense red color with violet hints. The wine shows sweet aromas of blackberry and plum with a touch of black pepper, an elegant touch of smoke and vanilla comes from the oak aging. There is a velevety texture, soft tannins and long finish.
