Cast very much in the comprartively quiet style that seems the winery norm, Schug's Carneros bottling combines brisk, green-apple fruit with a soupcon of oak and achieves a slight sense of richness that moves it ahead of its mate. It gets a touch tart at the finish, but its fruit is not closed off by acidity, and it will be at home with simply broiled fish.
