Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines8% Semillon. Fresh kiwi fruit is overlain by suggestions of straw and dried grasses as well as a smattering of slightly sweet oak in the nose, and the wine's nicely proportioned flavors run true to promise with ample, melon-like fruit played back against both oak and herbs. Medium-full-bodied and somewhat rounded in feel, this one will make quite useful drinking with sundry meaty fish dishes and simple poultry.

International Wine CellarBright pale color. Pungent aromas of grapefruit and lemon peel, minerals and licorice. Firmly built and tightly wound, with brisk citrus peel flavors and solid density. I find this a bit more intensely flavored than the basic chardonnay.

Maznoc(88) Very nice California Sav. Blanc.; light oak on the nose; bright, crisp fruit on the palate; gentle tartness on the finish. Perfect as a pre-dinner wine; also paired well with asian fusion food (in my case, avacado, wasabi and raw tuna). I usually prefer New Zealand Sav. Blanc for the more subdued fruit and enhanced mineral tones that those wines typically have (lacking here) - but this is a great expression of California-style Sav. Blanc, well worth the price.
