Trader Joes wine buyers, pay attention. Fantastic value for the price. Amarone is a mostly unknown appelation in the US but you can really find good buys. Nose of cherries, blackberries, cassis, orange, raisin, and oak. Low tannins and medium acids. Well balanced with medium-high alcohol (15%). Flavors of cherry, blackberry, cassis with medium sugars. Paired well with chile con carne and stood up well to the spiciness. Would work with hearty stews, red meats, and cheeses.
