WINEMAKER'S NOTE
Favourite Rhône - Red An almost savoury nose belies the exceptional pure red and black cherryfruit on the palate. There are hints of pepper and chocolate too and a goodlevel of complexity. This is a brilliant Châteauneuf. (Simon Staples, BBR Fine Wine Sales Director) Jean-Michel and son Jean-Charles Cazes have made another great leap in progressin 2007. The result, paradoxically, is the quintessence ofChâteauneuf-du- Pape; herbs, spice, pepper and a great mass of richlyconcentrated fruit. The wine has beautifully supple tannins and monumentallength. Deep red with a bright rim. Fresh red berry and spicecake aromas lifted by a floral nuance. Juicy, finely etched raspberry and cherry flavors provide very good palate coverage and are braced by tangy minerality. Gains weight with air and finishes long, with a sweet note of black raspberry.

Parker review: The dense ruby/purple-colored 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape reveals a sumptuousbouquet of kirsch, black currants, licorice, incense, and a hint of charcoal.Dense, opulent, and full-bodied, offering a hedonistic explosion of fruit andglycerin as well as the vintage's freshness, this substantial effortshould drink well for 15 years. bought from K&L. review on drync says 91 points, but store said Robert Parker gave it 94.

Parker's Review: 94 points Robert Parker: "The fabulous 2007 Châteauneuf-du-Pape (a blend of 64% Grenache, 19% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre, and the rest Cinsault and Vaccarese) boasts a deep plum/ruby/purple color as well as a super expressive perfume that represents the essence of Provence. Fresh bouquet garni, roasted Provencal herbs, licorice, black cherries, and black currant aromas soar from the glass of this full-bodied, incredibly deep, savory wine. Juicy and succulent with terrific acidity, freshness, and length, it is accessible now, and should continue to drink well for 12-15 or more years. Bravo to the Cazes family! This 60+ acre estate was acquired by the Cazes family (proprietors of Château Lynch-Bages in Pauillac) in late 2006. The new owners' first complete vintage was 2007, and it is no coincidence it is the finest wine I have ever tasted from Domaine des Senechaux." (10/2009)
