WINEMAKER'S NOTE
With more than a hint of the Godfather about him, owner Jean-Hubert Delon is aman of extremely high standards but he is rightly pleased with this outstandingClos du Marquis. Easily of Classed Growth quality, its pure, crunchyblackcurrant and dark chocolate nose is followed by an elegant, minerallyblackberry and coffee palate with finely textured tannins and a rich, polishedfinish. Made with more Cabernet Sauvignon than last year (58%) this is veryclose to the magnificent 2006 and as good as the 2005, which is not somethingyou can say of many wines this year. Excellent value.

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar(13.3% alcohol; a blend of 58% cabernet sauvignon, 35% merlot, 5% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot) Good medium ruby. Blackberry, black cherry, licorice and camphor on the nose. Suave on entry, then a bit strict in the middle for a 2007, with real firmness to its black fruit and violet flavors. A moderately dense wine with a medicinal reserve. Finishes with firm, building tannins.

Wine & SpiritsGood full red-ruby. Superripe aromas of plum, mocha, coffee and spicy oak. Big, dry, broad and rich, with a chewy quality and noteworthy sweetness to the plummy flavor. This has more baby fat than the young 2006 but not quite as much detail or verve. Finishes quite broad, with major ripe tannins and lingering sweet fruit.

SDecanter review: Dense colour, really good ripe blackcurrant fruit, lots of classic Saint-Julien expression with good grip and length, a classy wine. (Steven Spurrier - Decanter)
