Wine & SpiritsThe 2001 Shiraz William Randall, the most expensive offering I tasted from Thorn-Clarke, did not score as high as the 2002 Shiraz Shotfire Ridge. Nevertheless, it is a serious effort displaying a deep purple color along with aromas of chocolate, mint, blackberries, and cassis. Revealing good delineation along with plenty of power, tannin, and depth, it should drink well for 10-15 years. That's an advantage over its Shotfire Ridge, Terra Barossa, and Milton Park siblings. Readers who missed the reviews in issue #147 should realize that Thorn-Clarke produces a bevy of extraordinary bargains.
