WINEMAKER'S NOTE
Grapes for Quintessa are hand harvested at night and crushed at dawn on the roof of the Quintessa winery. They flow by gravity into the fermentation room below. Afger fermentation with all native yeasts and extended macertaion in stainless steel, French oak and concrete tanks, the wines are aged in French oak barrels in the winery's caves for 18 months..

DescriptionSweet, inviting black fruit aromas with red fruit undertones. A drmatic, full, lush entry developing into a broad enrobing wine that coats the mouth with rich black fruit laced with a touch of mochal, licorice, sandalwood and vanilla spice. With tremendous density, concentration and ample fine tannins, this vintage is full and dramatic early, and will age gracefully for 15 years or more.

Wine EnthusiastA big, powerful wine. Shows classic Quintessa ripeness and density, with focused black cherry, currant, mocha, violet and cedar flavors articulated by firm tannins. Bone dry, this wine, from the winery’s hilly estate vineyard in the northeast quadrant of Rutherford, will develop beyond 2012. - S.H
