The Phoenix name recognizes the first winemaking company purchased by Douglas AustralTolley in 1888. This company began in 1858 as The Phoenix Winemaking and DistillingCompany in Stepney, South Australia. The 2006 Phoenix Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits rich,dark fruit characters with complex spice- typical of the 2006 Coonawarra vintage. Aromas ofblackberry, cassis, and cedar oak carry through to the balanced palate. Fine, grainy tanninsoffer understated support to the velvety texture and finish.
