Bright medium ruby. Supperripe, porty aromas of blueberry, espresso and licorice. Deep, sexy and sweet, with ripe, densely packed flavors of crushed dark berries, licorice and spicy oak. Finishes with ripe, chewy tannins and sweet fruit. Not a subtle wine but offers a lot of flavor - not to mention considerable immediate appeal. (A second bottle of equal quality showed more perfumed lift to its blackberry, licorice and violet aromas and was distinctly less porty; the palate was a bit less weighty and more elegant.)
