That intriguing earthiness underscores the bold red fruit, almost vermilion in brightness when first poured, darkening to anise and pomegranate with air. The tannins are youthfully tough, needing a few years of bottle age to resolve. Named for Joseph Osborn's favorite racehorse, this wine is made from old-vine shiraz, foot-trod and basket pressed before finishing its fermentation in barrel.
