Connoisseurs' Guide to California WinesFairly forthright in fruit with a bias to black-cherries and touch of milk chocolate, this mid-sized offering is a bit shy on depth but offers a modicum of richness on the palate. A bit dry, but not overly tannic, it is a candidate for keeping for four or five years but should drink well early on.

International Wine CellarDeep red-ruby. Pungently mineral aromas of blackberry, violet and sexy nutty oak. Rich, dense and chocolatey, but with harmonious acids giving an enticing juicy quality to this flavorful wine. Notes of underbrush and tobacco leaf contribute complexity. Finishes with rather suave tannins that became a bit firmer with aeration, suggesting that this should be held for a few years.
