jrerionRed Rhone blend: Mazuelo, Grenache, Carignan, Syrah Inky ruby. Primary cherry skin and blackberry aromas start off reduced but slowly open to reveal baking spices and dusty minerals. Spicy dark berry flavors stain the palate and are firmed by chewy tannins, which gain power with air. Tannins grip the finish, which leaves dark fruit and licorice flavors behind Strikingly pure, "international" nose of toasty oak/popcorn/ grain very bound up, chewy. Nice sweetness in the mouth, immediately matched by minerally/phenolic structure coating the front teeth. Oak tar on the nose, more spice notes now, and subtle citrus/ketchup. Refined. Quite linear in the mouth Allow time to breathe Over the top, but still seductive, this full-bodied red is rich and sweet, with blackberry jam, dark chocolate, fig cake, licorice and toasted almond flavors. Plush, with well-integrated tannins and hard candy acidity. A full-blown international style. Drink now through 2012. The wine was aged for 20 months in new French oak before bottling without filtration. Dark crimson-colored, it offers up an alluring nose of balsam wood, pencil lead, rose petals, cherry, and black raspberry. Suave and elegant on the palate, it has superb depth and richness, savory flavors, and a silky finish. It will benefit from another 1-2 years of cellaring and drink well through 2018.
