2006 Betts & Scholl Grenache Barossa Valley
#90 of Zachys Wine Spectator Top 100 Predictions of 2008"Firm in texture, with tremendous focus to the blackberry, cherry, anise seed and cardamom aromas and flavors. Not heavy at all, but sleek and expressive-and extra-long on the vibrant finish...93" WS 7/08
International Wine CellarBright medium red. Smoky raspberry and candied cherry on the nose, with gentle floral and mineral scents adding interest. Sappy red berry flavors are unencumbered by tannins and gain power and sweetness on the back end. An alluring, seamless wine that reminded me of some richer New World pinots, but with more breadth and power. This is already very tasty.
