Wine.com60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot Born in a cooler than usual year, the aromatic complexity and freshness of the 2005 Ornellaia reflect the conditions of the harvest. The delayed harvest allowed us to obtain perfectly ripe tannins that are soft and silky. Deep ruby red in colour, it has an elegant, complex bouquet with red and black berry fruit supported by underlying hints of tobacco and spice. Wine & SpiritsRating: 90/100 - As reviewed by Wine & Spirits Magazine on 04/09 This feels closed and reticent at first, a muddle of aromas and flavor. joshlocker$165 in 1/1/2012Marked by freshness and aromatic complexity. Deep ruby with an intense nose of ripe red berry fruit, tobacco, spices and vanilla. Elegant and fascinating, supported by fine tannins and density without being hard. Has a long, lovely finish. 93 Points-The Wine Advocate “Shows plenty of delineation in its dark cherries, blueberries, spices, minerals and crushed rocks. Offers notable finesse and clarity in an understated style. My impression is that this will be a relatively early-maturing vintage of Ornellaia. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020. 95 Points¬-The Wine Spectator “Displays beautiful aromas of ripe fruit, with currant, plum and blackberry. This complex and full-bodied Tuscan red has soft, polished tannins and a long, long finish. Shows a deft hand in the winemaking.
