Napa is synonymous with Cabernet Sauvignon. Here we have the embodiment of all that you love in Napa Cab - beautiful aromas, lush fruit flavors, and the heft you expect from the king of reds. This alluring blend hails from the excellent ’05 vintage. Boasting attractive aromas of plum, currant, toasty oak and earth tones, it is loaded with flavors of blackberry, plum and cherry. Nicely integrated oak. Smooth tannin structure.

2008 World Wine Championships, silver, highly recommended

Napa Cabernet is Still Tops

The magic year for Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was 1976. Back then, French wines seemed indomitable. That’s when Steven Spurrier, a Paris-based wine merchant, organized a competition between French and American wines in honor of America’s Bicentennial.

The deck was stacked toward the favorites: French critics were selected to judge the blind tasting of red and white wines. Astonishingly, it was Napa Valley wines that staged a coup, taking the blue ribbon in both categories! The resulting torrent of publicity shone the spotlight on California wine.

Almost 30 years later, we’ve come to expect nothing less from Napa and she’s proven herself worthy of producing King Cabernet rivaling other areas of the world, particularly France. From the magnificent ’05 vintage, our 2005 Lakeville Cellars, Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is produced by winemaker Hossein Namdar, along with a team of three additional consultants. Combining top quality fruit from several microclimates across the Valley, it underwent numerous permutations to achieve the exact specifications we were looking for – a distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon.

Serving Suggestions:

A definite candidate for graceful aging, this impressive Cabernet can also be consumed now. Offer it to dinner guests with a hearty beef dish, and they’ll be begging for more!
