Connoisseurs' Guide to California WinesVinted by Louis M. Martini. This new entry from the Gallo family of wineries carries the Martini name on the bottom line and is said to be from the former Martini vineyards. It earns plaudits for its youthful energy and mid-density fruit, and if a bit firm as it ends, it is not out of keeping with the styling we see in the lower-priced wines from Bordeaux reviewed elsewhere in this Issue. Enjoyable now with steaks and chops, it has the structure to grow with several years of cellaring.
