Despite the joys of its rich and ripe aromas keyed first on sweet apples and seemingly filled out by oak and roasted grain notes, this wine is held back in the mouth by the winery's penchant for understatement. Instead of repeating its richness, the wine finds a narrower line of flavor and ends with increasing angles to the detriment of what comes before.
