Full ruby-red. Highly complex aromas of currant, espresso, celery, exotic coconut and earthy, dusty spices (coriander seed, cumin). Supple and flavorful, with notes of currant, meat, minerals, licorice and fresh herbs. This estatersquo;s wine often reminds me of Cheval Blanc in the early going, and this release is no exception. But here the 2001 vintage has brought a bit more flesh than usual. Persistent, lifted finish. Very interesting juice-and, as always, not your typical Ribera del Duero wine.

Deep ruby. Spicy cherry-cola, mint and exotic floral aromas display striking clarity. Deeply flavored but silky in texture, with precise red berry and cherry flavors, medium body and good support from fine-grained tannins. Finishes bright and minerally, with outstanding lingering sweetness.
