  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
Very well-crafted red cherry, dried flower, light spice and creme brulee richness lift this wine into prominence. It is medium-full in body, very carefully balanced and already beginning to show a silky, velvety side to its invitingly supple texture. It is generous yet refined in style and it never loses site of its varietal fruit even in the face of latter palate astringency that asks for a cellar stay of some three to five years.

"Bright, deep red. Subtly complex aromas of bitter cherry, sandalwood, dried rose, spices and pepper. Juicy but not particularly fleshy, in the style of the year. A lively, very fresh style, a bit lean for this bottling but an ideal restaurant pinot. This gained in richness as it opened in the glass."
