WINEMAKER'S NOTE
Complex nose melds cassis violet licorice musky game black tea and black olive. Denser than the Napa Valley offering but tighter today with its sweetness currently under wraps. But this serious backward wine turns sweeter on the back end finishing with broad dusty tannins an intriguing note of tobacco and sneaky length. Structured for a slow evolution in bottle but even today this is not especially austere.

SIWC 91 - International Wine Cellar 91 Points Bright ruby-red. Wild, inviting aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry, pepper, spices and game. Sweet but not particularly fleshy, offering a juicy character to the flavors of crushed berries, pepper and spices. Nicely suave cabernet with a firm edge of acidity and ripe, building tannins.

FoodMuseTasted on March 12, 2010 as part of a vertical from 2002 to 2006.

Tannins still firm but aged nicely. Rich flavors of cassis and nice oak finish. Surprisingly drinkable. Maybe not big enough to last as long as other vintages in the vertical.
