Wine & SpiritsHeritieres Brisson, St. Andre-et-Appelles, Ste. Foy-la-Grande Near opaque; blackish ruby. A moderately open nose; the ripe blackberry aroma is subtle, but is largely fresh, with some jammy richness and depth. Nice. The palate shows much more fruit, with rich black berry jam-like tastes, licorice, dark chocolate, and a little bit of mint. Very good! Very good body, rich, concentrated and deep, with some aggressive matte tannins, and good acidity. At 70% Merlot, 20% Cab' franc and just 10% Cab' sauv,' I'm surprised at the gutsiness of this wine. This is a wine for people read more...who like to chew their reds. Give it a good decanting or two now, and serve it with steaks or meat stews. (hide)
