Connoisseurs' Guide to California WinesIt may not compete with its high-ticket cousins when it comes to extract and extravagant oak, but this nicely made, mid-sized effort offers up a nice bit of defined varietal fruit and shows a touch of complexity that we would not expect at the price. It is slightly roughed up by tannin and will benefit from a few years of age, but it will turn the trick now with hearty beef dishes. GOOD VALUE
