Connoisseurs' Guide to California WinesOften one of the reliable "sleepers" of the vintage, this chateau, now owned by the connections to Chateau Lafite Rothschild, is once again tantalizing for its lush, rich fruit and fullish body. Its early plush feel is set against fairly tough tannins, but this wine should stand up well for the next decade and more and reminds of St. Estephe bottlings in its structure.

International Wine CellarFull ruby. Fresh aromas of currant, violet and bitter chocolate. Smooth and deep, with good spine and thickness to the dark berry and licorice flavors. Finishes firmly tannic but not hard. Has the vinosity to support bottle aging.
