This wine is a classic "cool climate" Chardonnay - sourced primarily from our Carneros vineyard and the mountain vineyards of Atlas Peak. These cooler climate grapes retain a firm acid structure as they ripen, allowing for full malolactic fermentation while keeping a crisp, fruit-forward structure in the wine. Connoisseurs' Guide to California WinesA little lighter than its mate yet its near equal in attractiveness, this wine follows the creamy, grainy path trod by Hill's Reserve and, if favoring green apples in its fruit focus, delivers a pleasing rendition of Chardonnay as well. It is slightly tighter in its feel on the palate and would seem to favor service with broiled or pan-grilled white fishes.
