Connoisseurs' Guide to California WinesIt has been argued that the Rutherford Bench, the sloping land lying at the foot of the hills on the Napa Valley's west side, sets the pace for everything else in the Valley. And while we agree in general with that thesis, wines like this that want for fruit and polish are not among the examples that prove the point. To be sure, it has decent focus and early suppleness, but it is a touch short on depth and beauty overall.
