WINEMAKER'S NOTE
Rich, full-bodied taste filled with berry pie and chocolate flavors. Substantial round-edged tannins and dark fruit provide this wine with a very long and lingering finish.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
Ripe and rich but somewhat understated as to buoyant fruit, this wine favors creme brulee scents and a chalky minerally note in its light-medium intensity aromas. It starts out smoothly on the palate with a rounded, glyceriny feel and if again less than fully fruity, it reprises its inviting richness. It is a wine for today, and further aging is not needed.

"The 2004 Scion is built for aging. It`s stuffed with tannins that coat the mouth with grapeskin astringency, but that firm structure will support time in the cellar. Give it three or four years, when the black cherry, cassis, black and red currant, cocoa, herb and cedar flavors will emerge on their own."
