WINEMAKER'S NOTE
The 2004 Luce underscores just how well Merlot works with Sangiovese, filling out the frame and softening some of the asperities just as it does with Cabernet in Bordeaux. A full ruby color, ripe, intense, and spicy. The wine is packed on the palate, broad, substantial, and long with the muscles and velvet that only the classiest of wines manage to exhibit.

Subtle suggestions of toasty oakappear first on the nose, over fragrant notes of blueberry and blackberry that seem to infusethe background; next to emerge is a complex of floral and mint nuances, followed bysmooth impressions of vanilla and cinnamon. The palate is smooth and mouthfilling, withvelvety tannins and a warm alcohol beautifully complemented by a crisp acidity. The finish isexpansive and dynamic.
