WA93 Drink 2010-2025 Another brilliant effort from this estate, the 2004 Lascombes (a blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petit Verdot) exhibits a deep blue/purple hue along with a sweet perfume of blueberries, black raspberries, cherries, incense, smoke, and spring flowers. While opulent, underneath the full-bodied richness of fruit and depth is a structured wine. As it sits in the glass, an espresso roast character (no doubt from new oak) also emerges. Enjoy this pure, structured, fleshy beauty between 2010-2025. RP-EWS Very deeply colored. Gorgeous bouquet gets everyone excited as it features perfectly ripe and seductive blackberry and black cherry fruit balanced with generous and lavish new oak. We immediately fall in love with the spicy, chocolate, cedar scents. Simply delicious in the mouth; no need to age this wine as it is immediately forthcoming. This 2004 is big, sweet, juicy, well-textured, and concentrated. It has a soft underbelly, ripe tannins, and perfect balance. Powerful yet elegant, wine #6 is utterly delicious, a cut above the rest. Exceptionally long and consistent finish. Wow, 2004 Lascombes blew the doors off their hinges tonight! In particularly, we must single out our runaway first place winner, 2004 Chateau Lascombes, a wine that transcends both the vintage and the normal quality level associated with this property. As the cliché says, it must “truly be tasted to be believed.” What a great wine!
