Connoisseurs' Guide to California WinesFor most of its length, this rounded, oak-sweetened, mid-sized wine behaves like it was made for early drinking. It is open and fruity and fairly smooth on the palate, yet its very direct, ripe-cherry fruit sputters a bit and fades at the finish as both dryness and a scant bit of heat becomes players in their own right. Time may allow its back end to open, and, while a short stay in the cellar brings no risk, we would not undertake lengthy cellaring without a bit of concern.
International Wine CellarBright ruby-red. Aromas of currant, raspberry, dark chocolate and sweet oak. Supple and fruity, with good energy to the bitter cherry and spicy oak flavors. Finishes dry and persistent, with firm tannins and an impression of energy.
