Barrua is the flagship wine of a partnership between Sebastiano Rosa of Bolgheri's Tenuta San Guido and the Sardinian producer Santadi, with Giacomo Tachis as consultant. Blended from 85 percent carignano with cabernet sauvignon (10) and merlot (5), this '04 is dense and full, with chewy tannins that frame a sweet core of currant and cassis. It's a massive wine that will become more sophisticated with ten to 15 years in the cellar.
