2003 Ferrari-Carano Trésor
|Vineyard:||Ferrari-Carano Vineyards & Winery|
Produced from mountain vineyards situated high above the Alexander Valley, the vines are dry farmed in shallow, rocky, low-vigor soil, which adds impressive depth and concentration of flavor intensity. Aged in French and American oak barrels, this Cabernet Sauvignon hints of toasted toffee accompanied by black fruit and deep berry flavors of jammy cassis, with a touch of vanilla for a polished finish.
Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines8% Merlot; 7% Syrah; 2% Petit Verdot. Markedly riper in taste than it is in aroma, this heavy-footed wine steers headlong to glycerin and dried grapes despite its fruity, sweetly oaked nose. Its slightly soft and not-too-tannic construction invites drinking sooner rather than later.
