Connoisseurs' Guide to California WinesOften thought of as living in the backwaters of its commune, this property has raised its stature and quality in vintage after vintage during the past two decades and with this ripe but balanced and nicely rich offering, jumps up into the low-90s scoring range. It is another wine that will offer a lot for the money. Its Cabernet-base will remind of Napa products, but its firmer structure marks it clearly as French.

International Wine CellarRed-ruby. Currant, leather and tobacco on the nose. Sweet, dense and thick, with considerable power for Lagrange. Ripe note of dark chocolate. I would have scored this higher but for a slight dry spot in the middle palate that carried through on the aftertaste. My bottle may not have been representative.
