2003 Château Grand-Puy Ducasse
Harvesting carried out in September: for the first time! Extraordinary richness and only one word to sum up the colour: perfect. The same could also be said of the bouquet which is as elegant as it is complex, and of the palate, a model of balance and finesse; this is true art. The palate, still dominated by powerful tannins, offers good volume and length. The finish shows the freshness reminiscent of the best vintages of this cru.
International Wine CellarRed-ruby. Cool aromas of dark berries, camphor, licorice and mint. Juicy and on the lean side, with some sweet berry flavors but modest flesh and depth. Conveys a slight overripe/underripe quality and finishes with slightly drying tannins, but still a solid early showing for this chateau.
DecanterRating: 3/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. (5th growth) Sweet, ripe fruit. Plump, smooth and opulent. Good density and complexity. Drink 2014-24.
