WINEMAKER'S NOTE
The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection offers up scents of licorice, black currants, spice box, and a hint of flowers. This deep, full-bodied, chunky 2003 should last for 13-15 years. Intense, complex and concentrated, with a vibrant stack of flavors built around currant, blackberry and wild berry, with pretty oak nuances on the finish, along with ripe, firm tannins. Excellent sample.

  • International Wine Cellar
Rating: 89/100 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 126, May/June 2006. ($70) Good ruby-red. Currant, plum, mocha, cola and sweet oak scents on the nose; showed blackberry and cassis with aeration, as well as a whiff of oak char. At once juicy and creamy in the mouth, with firm acids framing the supple red fruit and tobacco flavors. The sweet finish features fine-grained, building tannins.

Lively, deep ruby color. Immediate aromas of sweet ripe fruit-dark berries and spicy plum-with hints of cocoa and roasted nuts. In the mouth, the wine rolls generously across the palate, with significant complexity and richness. The finish is exceptionally long. The wine combines the fresh character of its youth with a very evolved, mature balance of texture and flavors.
  • Decanter
Rating: 4/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Blackberry and damson fruit, roasted coffee beans. Bold flavours, rich and full bodied. Softly structured but balanced acidity giving freshness. Sensitive use of spicy oak, lush finish. Drink 2009-12.
