Connoisseurs' Guide to California WinesHints of chalk, mineral, cedar and herbs join subtle elements of Cabernet cassis in the mid-density nose, and the wine's flavors follow suit with slightly hushed fruit lending support to suggestions of black earth and forest-floor spice. Despite a bit of roundness on entry, the wine is very much Cabernet in feel, and its grippy young tannins lend a measure of coarseness and austerity to the finish.
