Very ripe, very deep and very tough just now, this big-boned bottling gets good very marks for its intensity and basic substance. It is loaded with oak and cassis-like fruit, and it shows glimmers of loam and woodsy spice in both its aromas and flavors. Its hard-edged tannins and a bit of heat take charge at the finish, but a decade of cellaring should set things right.
