International Wine CellarDullish ruby-red. Complex nose combines redcurrant, cherry, raspberry, mocha and baking spices. Fat, smooth and lush, with generous flavors of red fruits and game. Showed increasing sweetness as it opened in the glass. Finishes with sweet, fine tannins and very good length. A lovely, open-knit merlot that seems best suited for drinking over the next couple of years.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines5% Cabernet Sauvignon; 2% Malbec. Mixing notes of charry oak with elements of sweet loam and green herb, this diverting bottling is supple on the palate with the smooth, inviting texture that belongs to Merlot. It coarsens a bit in its latter half but wants only a few years aging.
