Intense, ripe and generously oaked, but a little light on substantive fruit, this tightly wrapped wine begins with a note of glyceriny fatness but soon shows itself to be angular and lacking in real breadth. It will clearly benefit from five-plus years of age, but from the vantage point of the present, it looks to need more center to be counted among the more successful wines of the vintage.
