WINEMAKER'S NOTE
Our grapes were hand sorted and gently crushed. We used native yeast for fermentation and the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in the barrel. Aged 24 months in French oak and then bottled unfined and unfiltered.

BackgroundCabernet Franc has always been an important component in our Napa Valley Red wine. From the spectacular vintage of 2001 we felt that our Cabernet Franc was so outstanding that we would take some from our Oakville Vineyard sources and produce it as a stand alone wine. We wanted to show how nice Cabernet Franc can be when it is not allowed to overcrop and yields are managed. The blend consists of 92% Cabernet Franc and 8% Merlot. The high aromatics of blueberry, raspberry and black cherry are the classic notes we look for in Cabernet Franc. The Merlot rounds out the blend with just a touch of fatness and creamy overtones. The soft but firm tannins are evident showing the ageing potential of this wine.
